Life Around Bastrop
Bastrop’s identity is closely tied to both its history and its landscape.
Historic Downtown Bastrop sits beside the Colorado River, where the June Hill Pape Riverwalk connects Fisherman’s Park, the Old Iron Bridge area, and Ferry Park. Fisherman’s Park is also the starting point for the El Camino Real Paddling Trail and remains one of the city’s most popular parks.
Bob Bryant Park offers another connection to the river, with a scenic overlook, canoe access, trails, playground space, sports facilities, and picnic areas.
Just outside the center of town, Bastrop State Park protects thousands of acres within the Lost Pines, an isolated stand of loblolly pines and hardwoods that gives this part of Texas a landscape very different from the surrounding region.
The park itself dates back to the 1930s and is also part of the El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail.
That combination of river, historic streets, pine forest, and long-established community gives Bastrop a strong sense of place. It feels especially fitting for families who want portraits that become part of a longer story rather than simply documenting one afternoon.

My newborn portrait experience is intentionally slower and carefully guided, with a strong emphasis on safe newborn posing and gentle handling.
Babies can be photographed individually and with parents and siblings so the portraits preserve more than what your newborn looked like. They can also document what your family looked like as everyone adjusted to becoming something new together.

Bastrop Senior Portraits
Senior portraits are one of the places where family photography suddenly takes on a different meaning.
The child you have watched grow through elementary school, activities, friendships, and family milestones is preparing to leave one stage behind.
I want senior portraits to reflect the individual standing in front of me rather than looking like a standard set of graduation poses.
I guide posing and facial expression carefully while incorporating wardrobe, interests, personality, and the level of polish that fits the senior.

Bastrop ISD and Local Schools
Bastrop Independent School District serves a large geographic area, and school assignment depends on the student’s home address rather than simply having a Bastrop mailing address.
The district currently maintains separate elementary, middle, and high school attendance zones and publishes updated boundary maps for the 2026-2027 school year.
The district’s eastern elementary feeder pattern generally leads into Bastrop Middle School and Bastrop High School, while western communities feed toward Cedar Creek Middle School and Cedar Creek High School. Some campuses feed into both patterns, and specialty high schools such as Colorado River Collegiate Academy serve students from across the district.
Families should confirm current school assignment directly through Bastrop ISD because the district continues to adjust attendance zones as enrollment grows.
