Buda has changed enormously, but it still manages to feel like a community rather than simply another extension of Austin.
Young families are settling into newer neighborhoods, children are growing up around parks and community events, and historic downtown still gives the city a sense of place that newer suburbs sometimes struggle to create.
For me, family portraiture fits naturally into that story. Families change just as quickly as the places around them, and photographs give us something tangible from a chapter that will not stay exactly as it is.

I guide the experience from planning through finished artwork. Depending on the session, that can include wardrobe guidance, access to my curated client wardrobe, professional hair and makeup, and detailed posing and facial expression coaching.
I am paying attention to posture, hands, body angles, connection, and expression so you are not left trying to manage the photograph while also trying to be in it.

Family life does not need to look perfectly organized to photograph beautifully.
Children bring their own personalities into a portrait session. Some immediately want to participate. Some need a little time. Some decide movement is far more interesting than whatever the adults had planned.
I work with the family in front of me rather than expecting everyone to behave according to a formula.
There is still plenty of careful direction. I refine composition, posture, hands, and expression so the final portraits feel polished and intentional. At the same time, I leave room for the relationships and expressions that make your family recognizable as your own.

Life Around Buda
Buda combines older Central Texas character with some very new neighborhoods. Historic downtown and Main Street remain at the center of the community, while newer residential areas such as Garlic Creek, Sunfield, Whispering Hollow, Stonefield, Cullen Country, and other developments have brought a growing number of families into the area.
Outdoor spaces are a genuine part of life here rather than something added to a marketing description. The City of Buda maintains parks throughout the community, including Bradfield Village Park, Garlic Creek Park, Green Meadows Park, Whispering Hollow Park, Buda City Park, and Historic Stagecoach Park.
Historic Stagecoach Park is one of the more distinctive local spaces, with 51 acres of trails, oak and mesquite trees, open space, a playground, pond, pavilion, and historic structures. Buda City Park, closer to downtown, serves as another community gathering place with recreation spaces, a splash pad, playground, amphitheater, and several annual events.
That mix of established Buda, newer family neighborhoods, community parks, and easy access toward Austin gives the city its own personality. It feels connected to the metro without needing to pretend it is simply another Austin neighborhood.
The ordinary years are usually the ones we miss most once they are gone.
Buda Maternity Photography
Pregnancy changes the shape of a family before the baby ever arrives.
My maternity portrait sessions are designed to preserve that transition without asking you to become an expert at being photographed first.
I guide wardrobe, body position, hands, movement, posture, and facial expression throughout the session. Professional hair and makeup and access to my curated client wardrobe can also be incorporated into the experience.
Partners and children are welcome when you want the portraits to tell the larger story of the family waiting for this baby.

Buda Newborn Photography
Newborn days are wonderfully strange. They can feel endless while you are awake at three in the morning and impossibly brief once the baby is no longer quite so tiny.
My newborn portrait experience moves at a slower pace, with careful attention to safe posing and gentle handling.
I photograph the baby individually as well as with parents and siblings when families want the portraits to document not only a new child, but the new version of the entire family.
Parents receive the same level of guidance. I direct hands, posture, body position, connection, and expression so there is nothing you need to practice beforehand.

Hays CISD and Buda School Boundaries
Many Buda families are served by Hays Consolidated Independent School District, but school assignment should always be verified using the family’s exact address rather than assuming a campus from the Buda name alone.
That matters especially now because the district continues to adjust attendance zones as this part of Hays County grows. For the 2026-2027 school year, Hays CISD adopted elementary and middle school boundary changes related to enrollment and capacity at several campuses, including Buda Elementary, Sunfield Elementary, Carpenter Hill Elementary, Elm Grove Elementary, McCormick Middle School, and Dahlstrom Middle School.
High school zones were not part of those particular 2026-2027 changes, but families should still use the district’s current address-based information when confirming an assigned school.
