Historic homes sit beside modern architecture, longtime neighborhood favorites share streets with new creative spaces, and families build their lives in a part of Austin that still leaves room for personality.

I think portraits should do the same. Beautifully made does not have to mean predictable.

Most people do not arrive at a portrait session naturally knowing their best angle, where to put their hands, or how to create an expression that looks effortless.

You do not need to.

I guide posing, posture, body position, hands, movement, and facial expression throughout the experience. Depending on the session, professional hair and makeup, wardrobe planning, and access to my curated client wardrobe can also be included.

The direction is detailed, but the goal is never to make everyone look the same. I want to give you enough guidance to feel confident while leaving room for the personality that makes the portraits yours.

South Austin Family Photography

Family life rarely looks perfectly arranged, and I do not think your portraits need to pretend otherwise.

I will refine the composition, guide posture, adjust hands, and make sure everyone is photographed beautifully. But I am equally interested in the moments when your family stops concentrating quite so hard on being photographed.

Children bring their own personalities into the experience. Some immediately engage. Some need time. Some decide they have a completely different agenda.

I work with the family in front of me rather than trying to force everyone into the same formula.

The finished portraits should feel elevated enough to become artwork while still showing the humor, connection, affection, and personality that actually belong to your family.

Life Around South Austin

South Austin is less one neighborhood than a collection of places with very different personalities.

Close to the river, Bouldin Creek and Travis Heights combine historic residential streets, mature trees, and quick access to South Congress and the central city. South Lamar and the areas around South First feel denser and more eclectic, while farther south, neighborhoods such as Westgate, South Menchaca, Garrison Park, East Congress, West Congress, and Sweetbriar become increasingly residential.

South Congress is probably the most recognizable corridor, but it is only one version of South Austin. Much of the area is made up of ordinary neighborhood streets, schools, parks, longtime homes, newer construction, and families who actually live here rather than simply visit for an afternoon.

Green space is woven throughout the area too. South Austin Neighborhood Park sits in 78704, while farther south, parks and greenbelts connect residential areas throughout the city. The larger South Austin landscape also keeps families within easy reach of Barton Springs, Zilker, Lady Bird Lake, and the Barton Creek Greenbelt without making those destinations the entire identity of the community.

That variety is what I like about South Austin. There is no single aesthetic everyone needs to fit into, which is exactly how I feel about portraiture.

South Austin Maternity Photography

Maternity portraiture is one of the places where beautiful direction matters most.

Your body is changing, the way you normally stand may no longer feel natural, and most expecting mothers have absolutely no reason to know which positions photograph beautifully.

That is why I guide everything.

I coach posture, hands, movement, body position, and facial expression throughout the session. Professional hair and makeup and access to my curated client wardrobe can also be incorporated so the experience feels cohesive from the beginning.

Partners and children are welcome when you want the portraits to tell the larger story of the family waiting for this baby.

South Austin Boudoir Photography

Boudoir portraiture is not about knowing how to look seductive for a camera.

In fact, I would much rather you arrive without trying to rehearse any of it.

I guide body position, hands, posture, movement, and expression throughout the experience, including the tiny adjustments that can completely change how confident a photograph feels.

The goal is not to turn you into a character you do not recognize. It is to create portraits that feel strong, feminine, expressive, and polished while still feeling like you.

For some women, the session marks a milestone. For others, it comes after a major life change, during a season of renewed confidence, or simply because they decided there did not need to be a more complicated reason.

Austin ISD and South Austin School Boundaries

Much of South Austin is served by Austin Independent School District, but there is no single South Austin attendance zone.

Neighborhoods throughout Bouldin Creek, Travis Heights, South Congress, South Lamar, South Menchaca, Westgate, and the surrounding areas cross multiple elementary, middle, and high school attendance boundaries.

Austin ISD determines home-school assignments according to the household’s specific address and reviews attendance boundaries as enrollment and housing patterns change.

Families should therefore confirm their assigned campus directly through the district rather than assuming a school based on a neighborhood name or 78704 address.

Family and maternity portraits can become custom wall artwork and albums designed to remain part of your home. Boudoir portraits can be created into albums, folio pieces, and other finished artwork meant to feel just as intentional as the session itself.
